Peter: On the Other Side of Failure

April 27, 2025

Service: Sunday

Can you think of a time when a personal failure made you feel stuck or like you had lost your sense of direction or worth?  How did you handle it at the time?

Explore It

  1. What are some common ways people try to deal with failure? Which of those responses do you relate to most?
  2. Read John 18:15–18, 25–27. How does Peter’s failure unfold?  What emotions might he have experienced?
  3. Read John 21:1–3, 9. What do these verses show us about Jesus’ approach to restoring Peter?  How does grace show up around this second fire?
  4. Read Acts 1:8 and Acts 2:1–4. What kind of transformation do we see in Peter by the third fire? What does this say about God’s power at work beyond failure?

Apply It

  1. What would it look like for you to view failure as a “fall into grace”?
  2. What’s one step you could take this week to walk in the power of who God has called you to be—on the *other side* of failure?
