  2. Read Luke 2:16–20. How do the characters react in this Christmas passage? How does Mary specifically react?
  3. Why do you think Mary treasures or stores up Jesus’ birth?
  4. One of the best ways to weather present and future storms is to remember God’s activity in our lives. In this season, think about how God has proven faithful and good to you. How might you draw upon God’s goodness when life brings challenges or disappointments?

Confession

Jesus, we come to you with our burdens, regrets, and stress. We tend to rely on our own strength to solve our problems, and we do not love our neighbor as ourselves. Forgive us for all the ways we keep you and others at arm’s length. Empower us to trust in you and let you be our strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
