Icebreaker

  1. Share a high and a low from your week.
  2. Share about a time you were the recipient of someone else’s generosity.

Discussion Questions

  1. What stuck out to you about the message?
  2. Read 2 Kings 4:1–7. Put yourself in the widow’s position. What would you have been thinking or feeling in her position before and after Elisha’s words? What does the widow know about God?
  3. How does God provide for the widow in the story? How might this give us insight into the ways in which God wants to provide for us?
  4. Read 2 Corinthians 4:7–12. What is the writer, Paul, expressing in this passage? How does this shape our expectation of what our lives will be like as Christians?
  5. How do we see the provision of God in this passage? How is it similar or different to the widow’s story?
  6. Is it easy or challenging for you to view God as a provider? Why or why not, and does that change depending on specific areas of your life?
  7. How would our generosity change if we saw God as providing everything we need?

Prayer Practice

Have each person write down something they need God to provide (and share if comfortable). Say a prayer thanking God for giving us everything we need.
