Discussion Questions

  1. How do you define Peace?
  2. Read Luke 2:8–15. The angels proclaim Jesus as 3 things: Savior, Messiah/Christ, and Lord. They carry the ideas of rescuer, military leader, and king. Do these sound like “peaceful” roles?
  3. Read John 16:33. Where or who do we look to for peace in our troubled world? Where do we place our hope for peace?
  4. Read Philippians 4:4–7. Jesus often gave the greetings “Peace be with you” or “Go in peace.” How is it different from the world’s peace? How can we seek Jesus’s peace more today?

Confession

Lord God, we confess that we have sinned against you by rejecting your peace. The media we consume glamorizes manipulation and fighting. We too often take sides in opposition, hoping our winner will create a peace that lasts. Forgive our misguided hopes and renew our hearts with your peace, so that we may reflect your light to a turbulent world. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
